Google Pay is shutting down: All the important things you should know.

Google has announced that its GPay app won’t be around after June 4, 2024. Although GPay replaced Google Wallet in 2022, it kept running everywhere. But now, Google is making things simpler by changing its payment methods.

However, users in India and Singapore won’t be affected because Google plans to keep offering Google Pay in these countries. This update is only for the U.S. version of the Google Pay app.

“To make things simpler, the U.S. version of the Google Pay app won’t be usable after June 4, 2024,” said Google in a blog post.

Google also said, “For the many people using GPay in India and Singapore, nothing will change because we’re still focusing on what’s unique about those places.”

As part of this change, Google will remove features like peer-to-peer payments, managing your Google Pay balance, and finding offers and deals from the service. If you were using the “find offers and deals” feature in the GPay app in the U.S., Google suggests checking out new deals on Search instead.

Affected users will still be able to transfer their GPay balance to bank accounts even after June 4, 2024, using the Google Pay website.

Google Wallet has replaced GPay now and has millions of users in over 180 countries. It can handle credit and debit card payments and store things like transport passes, state IDs, driver’s licenses, virtual car keys, and more. After June 4, 2024, GPay will be available through Google Wallet in the U.S.
