Prime Minister Narendra Modi created a plan “Viksit Bharat” for the next five years.

The roadmap for Viksit Bharat, a comprehensive plan for the development of India, has been carefully crafted over a span of more than two years. This involved a collaborative effort across all government ministries, along with extensive consultations with state governments, academic institutions, industry associations, civil society organizations, and scientific bodies. The aim was to gather ideas, suggestions, and inputs from a wide range of stakeholders, including over 20 lakh young people.

This planning process took place amidst the backdrop of impending Lok Sabha elections, with political parties gearing up with manifestos, campaign strategies, and candidate lists. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) even announced its initial list of candidates for 195 seats.

Modi who had been actively touring various states, was scheduled to visit Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, West Bengal, and Bihar from March 4th to 6th. During these visits, he was set to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for several significant projects across different sectors, each worth billions of rupees. For instance, in Telangana, projects exceeding Rs 56,000 crore in Adilabad and over Rs 6,800 crore in Sangareddy were on the agenda. In Hyderabad, he was to inaugurate the Civil Aviation Research Organization (CARO), while in Tamil Nadu, he would witness the initiation of a major reactor project. Similar inaugurations and foundation-laying ceremonies were planned in Odisha, Kolkata, and Bihar, covering projects in infrastructure, connectivity, and energy sectors.

The overarching goal of the Viksit Bharat plan is to empower citizens and foster a sustainable economy. It envisions India as a leading global force in technology and innovation over the next 25 years. The vision document for this plan emerged after an exhaustive process involving over 2700 meetings across ministries from December 2021 to January 2024. The government meticulously reviewed 450 recommendations and sought input from 15 key stakeholders.

Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of incorporating Viksit Bharat seminars into the agenda of every department. He urged them to formulate ideas and action plans aligned with the objectives of the plan. Additionally, he called upon prominent business bodies like the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) to engage in dialogue on this initiative.

Modi Directed ministers and officials to delve into the historical records of their respective ministries. This was aimed at understanding the evolution of past decisions and tracking changes in ideas over the preceding 25 years.

It embodies a collaborative effort involving the government, various stakeholders, and the active participation of citizens.
